Gagged girls

Gag and silence

The production of human sounds starts at the vocal cords. No gag can be used there! Thus it is not possible to bring someone to complete silence, no matter with which gag.
In BDSM, the intention of the gag is to humiliate, through the drooling effect and by preventing speech, so that only ridiculous sounds can be produced.

Sub is physically reminded with the gag that speaking is just forbidden. There are also gags that serve other purposes: For example, to learn oral sex / or to “force” in a BDSM context. Some people are also calmed by a gag. Being able / allowed to suck on something can be very relaxing.

Aren’t all gags the same!?

Certainly not! There are many different types of gags for different purposes. The fact that most people think a gag is there to immobilize someone leads to many misunderstandings or even rejection. This is a shame, because gags are great both psychologically and physically.

A gag, as already written above, does not help at all to banish noises from the bedroom. However, it can serve to suppress or muffle loud cries of pain, such as when Subbie bites into it instead of screaming, to have another dissipator for the pain.

Dangerous gag

Gagging is a big problem, especially when a foreign object protrudes into the throat. Psyche can also play a role here and the fear of not being able to breathe.
In BDSM games people die, either by breath reduction or by dangerous gagging!
Basically, breath reduction is a nice way to play BDSM. But you must NEVER!!! think with anything else than your head. The avoidance of accidents has the highest priority here!

Therefore, as an inexperienced person, you should NOT gag with the following objects:

Adhesive tape
The most dangerous toy in the hands of an inexperienced person is duct tape. Depending on the type and use of the tape, this can make breathing through the mouth impossible and if nasal breathing is then blocked (vomiting/covering with tape/film), the sub will suffocate. So: be careful!
Clothes
Another dangerous way to gag is to stuff articles of clothing deep into the mouth, as this blocks all airways, including nasal breathing. Many people use socks, nylons and panties to gag, a dangerous practice, especially when used in combination with duct tape.
Ball-shaped inflatable gags
Finally, another variety of gags does not belong to the hands of inexperienced people: ball-shaped inflatable gags. These gags are usually inflated to a dangerous size. The gag balloon thereby adapts to the inner contours of the mouth, penetrates far into the throat and blocks all ways for breathing air. Furthermore, these gags make salivary discharge nearly impossible. If saliva enters the lungs, the gagged person chokes on his own saliva.

Precautions

Regardless of the type of gag you use, there are a few important things you should keep in mind:

Never leave a gagged person unattended.
There should always be visual contact so that you can constantly monitor the person’s condition. The first signs of lack of breath are eye widening (eyes protruding from the face), lips turning bluish, and face turning red or pale. Unexpected heavy sweating of the face is another warning sign as well as short heavy breathing through the nose with widening nostrils.
Inability to breathe is usually caused by panic, it must be handled properly: Remove the gag immediately, you are responsible, help the gagged person accordingly, no matter if there is a plausible reason for their panic or not.
Give the gagged person a chance to “speak”.
Before gagging, make sure that there is a way for the person who will be gagged later to be able to signal you without words, in the sense of a safeword, when the gag needs to come out. A bell is the most effective tool, there are e.g. these radio bells for little money, whose trigger the bound person can keep in his hand and press on it if necessary.
By the way, the word ORANGE can be articulated through ALL gags. It really does a good job as a safeword, try it out if you don’t believe it.
Make sure that the saliva can run off at any time.
Make sure that regardless of the position he/she is tied in, Sub can position his/her head to drain saliva out of his/her mouth at any time. This is humiliating (which in turn can be arousing…), but in any case better than choking.
Be aware of physical and psychological problems
Never gag a person who has heart or lung problems, is prone to hyperventilation or suffers from claustrophobia, is taking strong medications or drugs, is alcoholic, suffers from diabetes or seizures.

Selection, purchase and care of gags

The design

Most gags are held in place by a strap that comes together at the nape of the neck. These are also the easiest to spit out.
There is also a head harness, similar to horse bridles (for a human head), that holds the actual gag in place. Or a wider leather strap with buckle at the back of the neck that goes over the actual gag (mouth plate) with a gag shape that doesn’t have to be a ball.
Our preferred gag for long wear is one that has a semi-circular bar made of metal with the ball slid onto it. This one can’t be pushed out of your mouth with your tongue, and it doesn’t have any sharp points.

Another important part of the design (or rather construction) is the connection between the actual gag and the retaining strap. Saliva will cause this connection to become wet in addition to the actual gag. If this connection is made of hard, unsuitable split leather, the saliva will be absorbed. Within a short time, the leather becomes hard and brittle. This quickly causes open mouth corners and ugly infections. You can avoid this by cleaning the leather with clear water after use, letting it dry well and greasing it with Vaseline. Of course, it is better to use suitable material right from the start.

Finally, you should pay attention to all rivet joints and other metal parts. They should be made of stainless metal. Material that comes into contact with the skin must not be sharp-edged. If necessary, pay attention to nickel-free, if an allergy to nickel should exist.
The service at Baumwollseil.de: we pay attention to these “little things” and test all new products we receive for nickel content as well.

The suitable material for gags

In principle, there are the variants silicone, wood, plastic or latex/rubber for the mouthpiece. The holder part is usually made of leather, sometimes of fabric material or metal. As for the actual gag, the part that goes into the mouth, make sure that it is sturdy. It must not break, so that no piece can be bitten off and swallowed.

If the gag is made of leather, a next point is the type of leather used. Cowhide and calfskin are types of leather that can withstand saliva and cleaning for a long time without affecting the quality.

The mouthpiece

When it comes to the mouthpiece, it is important that it does not smell unpleasant or even taste bad. Then you will not enjoy your gag. Pay attention to it right at the purchase, smell it. If the salesman wants to prevent this, leave the store, you are not in good hands there!

Care of the gag

The gag should be cleaned immediately before the first use and always after use. Handwash soap or dishwashing detergent are a good choice here. Then rinse with clean water. If the leather gets wet in the process, let it dry completely and then treat it with natural care products that do not cause allergies. Vaseline is quite suitable here.
